Match Day Programme

1 Nov 2025

2.45pm

Havelock Park

Welcome to Havelock Park, home of Banbridge Hockey Club. Whether you're a visiting supporter, a first-time fan, or one of our regulars, we're delighted to have you with us for today's EY Hockey League fixture. We hope you enjoy the match and the atmosphere — and if you're feeling chilly, the Coffee Dock by the pitch is open for hot drinks, while the club kitchen and bar are serving up refreshments throughout the day.

Banbridge Hockey Club has a proud and storied history, dating back to 1897, and remains one of the most decorated clubs in Irish hockey. In recent seasons, the men's side has consistently challenged at the top of the EYHL, including a Champions Trophy three-peat and regular appearances in Irish Senior Cup finals. The club has also represented Ireland in European competition, showcasing the

strength and depth of talent developed here in Banbridge.

Today’s match is another chapter in that legacy, and we’re thrilled to share it with you. Thank you for supporting club hockey — and enjoy the game.

At Banbridge Hockey Club, we believe that respect is the foundation of everything we do — on and off the pitch. Whether you're a player, coach, supporter, or visitor, your behaviour shapes the atmosphere of our club and the experience of everyone involved.

Umpires are essential. Without them, there is no game. They give their time, energy, and focus to ensure fair play, and they deserve our full support. Disrespect, dissent, or abuse — even in frustration — undermines the spirit of hockey and the values we stand for.

We ask every member of our community to uphold the principles of RESPECT: Realise umpires are human, Encourage fair play, Support officials, and Thank them for their role. Coaches, captains, and parents — your example matters. Let’s show that Banbridge leads by example.

Together, we can create a positive, welcoming environment where hockey thrives. No umpires, no game. Respect the officials. Respect the game.

The way we enjoy hockey is changing — and it’s never been more exciting. With Hockey Ireland TV, fans can now follow the action from across the domestic league, live and in full colour, from wherever they are.

Whether you're cheering on Banbridge from the clubhouse, the sofa, or halfway across the country, you won’t miss a moment. Over 120 live games are available this season, bringing our sport to screens and raising its profile like never before.

Support the game. Support the players. Tune in and be part of the future of Irish hockey.

Banbridge U11 Boys – Junior Team of the Year!

We’d like to take a moment to introduce and celebrate a fantastic group of young players — our Banbridge Under 11 boys.

This talented group enjoyed a truly remarkable season last year, going undefeated throughout and finishing on a high by winning the Ulster Hockey Blitz at PlayBall. Their commitment, teamwork, and passion for the game shone through in every match.

Their outstanding performances earned them the title of Junior Team of the Year at the Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Sports Awards — a well-deserved honour! Unfortunately, due to a storm on the night of the awards, the boys were unable to collect their trophy. However, they will be presented with it today by Deputy Lord Mayor, Councillor Jessica Johnston.

Congratulations to the team:

Joe Grimes, Archie Dunbar, Matthew Wilson, Jacob Annet, Alexander Lyndsey, and captain Will McCandless, with Solomon Greg and Ben Anderson also key members of the squad.

A huge thank you and congratulations also go to Patrick Grimes and Emma Lyndsey, whose dedication and coaching helped guide the boys to such an incredible season.

Well done, lads — you’ve done Banbridge Hockey Club proud!

Last Time Out

5-3

Banbridge carried their strong European form into domestic action with a flying start against Corinthians in Dublin, storming to a 3–0 lead inside the first quarter. Johnny McKee, a standout performer in Barcelona, opened the scoring with a sharp finish, followed by Jake Rowe’s penalty corner and a slick team goal tucked away by Matthew McKee. Despite a quieter second quarter, Corinthians managed to pull one back from their first set piece.

Louis Rowe restored Bann’s cushion straight after halftime, and Johnny McKee added his second as the visitors sliced through the home defence. Corinthians grabbed two late goals after Bann eased off, but the result was never in doubt—Banbridge sealed a confident win at a ground that’s been known to trouble away teams.
